CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA — About 1,000 technical-vocational graduates in Central Luzon benefitted from the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) program conducted by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The WCO is a job facilitation activity intended to provide employment opportunities to tech-vocational graduates, as part of TESDA’s 28th Founding Anniversary celebration.
TESDA Regional Director Balmyrson Valdez emphasized that the event served as a venue for the graduates to look for employment opportunities suitable to their skills.
“We are bringing together the seven TESDA provincial offices of the region and several companies under one roof so as to increase the hiring chances of the applicants. They are not confined to applying in only one particular area or province,” he said.
Apart from technical-vocational graduates or alumni, the WCO also entertained unemployed workers, recent college graduates, and pandemic-displaced workers.
Also, Valdez shared that about 33 companies under construction, manufacturing, information technology and business process management, and tourism participated in the WCO; and offered about 3,000 local job vacancies.
“Their participation reinforces the government’s post-pandemic recovery efforts towards improved economic conditions,” he said.
Agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Social Security System, Pag-IBIG Fund, LandBank of the Philippines, Philippine Statistics Authority, and Cooperative Development Authority put up booths at the site so that jobseekers may easily access their services. – Jag Lyra D.
