QUEZON CITY — The 2025 World Slasher Cup Invitational 9-Cock Derby will be held here at Smart Araneta Coliseum from Jan. 20-26.
There will be a break on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025.
Also gracing the event on Saturday (Jan. 18) were Dr. Trisha Martinez, 2nd runner-up Bb. Pilipinas, Jasmin Bungga, 2024 Bb. Pilipinas, Myrna Esguerra, Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2024.
The 2025 World Slasher Cup is hosted by Pintakasi of Champions.
Among others, the participants in the Derby are Mike Formosa, Butch Fabro and George Cadoy.
Ruben Formosa and Dicky Lim.
Freddie Nazareth and Margie Marena.
Guy Antolin and James Uy.
Rene Anao and Toni Marfori.
Cong. Archie Lacson, among others.
Among the sponsors are Emperador, Fundador, Petron Blaze, and Thunderbird.
In an interview, Joey Sy, former President of the Rizal Game Fowl Breed Association, said that the 2025 Slasher Cup will be participated in by cockfigters from the United States and the Philippines.
Sy added that cockfighting is fun, very exciting and prolongs life in the same way that Filipinos enjoy the game of bingo and other pasttime activities.
He noted that the cockfighting industry is also contributing to the nation’s economy as it also boosts the tourism industry.
According to Engr. Tony Marfori, cash prizes at stake may reach P15 million.
