PASIG CITY — Philanthropist Pacifico ” Kuya Curlee” Discaya II on Wednesday (April 30) divulged that once his wife, Ate Sarah is elected Pasig City Mayor on May 12, they will scale down the cost of P9.6-billion to P3.5-billion for the new Pasig City Hall Building and the savings of P6.1 billion will be used for the construction of new schools and hospitals.
In a press conference, Discaya said that the amount of P250 million is sufficient enough to build a new 11-storey hospital for the benefit of Pasigueños.
He added that they will also build a new 11-storey school in order to accommodate the 25,000 scholars in Pasig, who are studying in just three existing university schools in Pasig City.
Discaya noted that the amount of P855 million for the demolition of the old Pasig City Hall was scaled down to only P250 million by the city government.
However, Discaya said, the demolition of the old Pasig City Hall is even free as contractors may even pay P10 million to the city government, who will just collect the debris and materials from the demolished structure.
Discaya stressed that the original cost of the new Pasig City Hall Building was P9.2 billion but was scaled up to P9.6 billion by the city government.
As the President of St. Gerrard Construction Corporation, a Quadruple A construction firm, Discaya explained that it’s the first time in the Philippines that a new city hall will be built at a staggering cost of P9.6 billion, which means, it will cost P210,000 per square meter.
He cited that if they construct a P60,000 per square meter structure, it is as if they won the jackpot in the lottery.
Discaya compared the expensive P9.6 billion new Pasig City Hall Building with that of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates, which is the current tallest building in the world. ###
