PASIG CITY — If elected Mayor in the May 12 midterm elections, Sarah Discaya will build an 11-storey university so that all Pasigueno youth who wish to study in college will have a chance in the struggles of life.
During the caucus in Barangay Ilog on Tuesday (May 6), Discaya said “everyday is a challenge — not only for the students, but also for the teachers and parents.” .
She noted the classrooms are exceeding full capacity, the students are overcrowding, and the space is insufficient.
“And despite of all these, the dream of every Pasigueño child remains firm — to study, progress, and help the family,” Discaya said.
However, she asked until when will they overcrowd in the old system? Until when will they be denied an efficient school?
“With the big funds of Pasig, why education seems to be a forgotten priority?
“This is not an issue of lack of money. This is an issue of direction and care. And this is where Ate Sarah comes in,” she said.
Discaya said “behind every Pasigueno youth is a dream — to finish college, to help in the family, and overcome poverty.
For every dream, oftentimes, tuition is the biggest stumbling block. Not because of lack of talent or perseverance, but lack of an opportunity.”
For Discaya, the words “education is important” are not enough — it should be made true, felt, and affordable.
Hence, Discaya is pushing for the establishment of a new Pasig University Campus along C. Raymundo Avenue.
She is dreaming of a modern university, with digital-ready classrooms, laboratories, innovation hubs, and spaces ready to accommodate the future of the youth.
Discaya explained “a school university where Pasigueno students can study, train, and prepare for work — without the need to leave the city.”
She stressed that six years have passed — but there were neither plans nor drawings. Discaya pointed out that the project, which should have been started a long time ago, remains a dresm.
For Discaya, the period of six years is not needed to take action.
She expounded that only three years are needed if there is real care, clear direction, and courage to use public funds correctly.
“True progress starts in quality education and equality for all. If there is the Pasig University, every Pasigueño child has a bright future — and there is hope the entire city for a brighter future,” Discaya said. ###
