MARIKINA CITY — Mayor Maan Teodoro on Tuesday (July 22) attributed the fast ebbing of flooding to dredging and slope protection program, specifically along the Marikina River.
In an interview over GTV, Mayor Teodoro noted that more than 23,000 Marikenos have been evacuated to 36 evacuation centers with the raising of the third alarm in the Marikina River on Monday night that prompted the forced evacuation in the flood-prone areas.
Third alarm is raised whenever the Marikina River reaches 18 meters deep.
The notable river is the catch basin of the Upper Wawa Dam and the rainwaters from the Sierra Madre mountain range, especially with heavy rains spawned by southwest monsoon.
Teodoro said that some of the evacuees are now visiting their respective homes as the water level in the Marikina River has gone down to second alarm. ###
