MANILA HOTEL — DOST Asec. Diana Ignacio has asked the more than 700 scientists worldwide what do you think would be different in your field if more women are involved in innovation.
Ignacio thanked the organizer of the 8th NRDC in including the topic gender equality in the conference.
She cited that from the world economic forum, nearly 69% of the gender gap in 148 countries which currently lies 123 years away.
Ignacio noted that at the DOST, 38% of the ManCom (Management Committee) are women.
“In the latest UNESCO data, as of 2021, where (women) only 1 in 3 researchers is a woman,” Ignacio said.
The DOST is also supporting noteworthy policies for women’s participation in STEM innovations across Asia-Pacific region.
The call to action is gender equality in STEM is a long-term development. strategy.
