QUEZON CITY — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has mobilized personnel to assist trucks and other vehicles delivering basic goods across the country.
Acting Assistant Secretary and LTO Chief Atty. Greg G. Pua, Jr. said that the assistance extends to the trucks and other vehicles delivering relief goods to the families affected by the heavy rains due to weather disturbances that started with tropical storm “Crising” last week.
“Under the guidance of Secretary Dizon, we already informed all Regional Directors to mobilize a sufficient number of personnel for the road assistance to government vehicles delivering relief goods and even those transporting equipment for search, rescue and road clearing operations,” Atty. Pua said.
“The instruction also covers trucks and other vehicles transporting basic goods to the markets. This is to ensure that flow of commodities will not be hampered amid the weather disturbances we are continuously experiencing,” Pua added.
Pua said that the instruction was specifically directed to all Regional Directors in the areas severely affected by the weather disturbances.
Meanwhile, Pua said that LTO personnel, particularly in the enforcement units, were directed to extend assistance to motorists who need assistance amid the road conditions in most parts of Luzon.
Pua said that all LTO enforcers were also directed to run after erring motorists who ignore road safety rules in times of heavy rains following social media posts about some vehicles recklessly driving even during wet road conditions.
“We encourage our netizens to inform us about these reckless drivers who compromise road safety amid the unsafe road conditions due to heavy rains in the past days,” he said.
Pua said that complainants can also course their concerns through the AksyOn the Spot hotline 09292920865. ###
