QUEZON CITY — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will conduct a plate distribution for motorcycles in Quezon CityLTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said that the plate distribution will be conducted at the 5th Floor Parking Area of the SM City North EDSA on Friday (Aug. 8) from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Mendoza added that the activity is in coordination with the local government unit of Quezon City headed by Mayor Joy Belmonte and in partnership with the SM management through LTO-NCR Director Roque Verzosa III.
“Ito ay pagpapatunay ng mabilis na aksyon at serbisyo kapag ang LTO at lahat ng sektor ay nagtulungan upang mabilis na maibigay ang mga plaka sa mga tunay na may-ari nito,” Mendoza said.
Various plate distribution activities are currently being conducted nationwide after the LTO finally wiped out the backlog on license plates for motorcycles—a problem that started in 2014 involving over 12 million plates.
In full support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and under the guidance of Secretary Vince Dizon, the license plate backlog was addressed within the half term of the Marcos administration.
From setting up kiosks and assistance desks to information dissemination in motorcycle parking and hubs, LTO personnel across the country are now working double to guide riders how to claim their plates.
A number of LTO personnel have also set up desks for the Palit-Plaka program, which was geared toward providing the replacement plates to the old ones.
Those who could avail are motorcycle owners who were assigned with seven-character plates and those who have not yet received their actual plate for their motorcycles registered in 2017 and below.
Mendoza said that he also tasked all Regional Directors and District Office heads to coordinate with local government units, motorcycle riders groups and even tricycle operators and drivers association (TODAs) in their respective areas to maximize the information dissemination and plate distribution process.
“I also instructed all the Regional Directors before to come up with the best ways to reach out to the motorcycle owners to claim their license plates. And I am elated that they came up with their own programs in doing so,” said Asec Mendoza. ###
