QUEZON CITY – Atty. Jemina “Jem” Sy and her “Nagkakaisang Marilenyo” team on Tuesday (Nov. 19) vowed to do everything to push for the total development of Marilao town in Bulacan province.
During the ISTAMBAY (Ikaw, Sila, Tayo, Ako Maglilingkod sa Bayan) Forum Kapihan sa B Hotel hosted by Ric Sakai III and Tracy Cabrera, Atty. Jemina “Jem” Sy, former Customs employee and now Mayoral Candidate in Marilao, Bulacan, with “Nagkakaisang Marileno (Unity Team)”, with Vice Mayor Ariel Amador, and the rest composed the “Team JRS”.
Atty. Sy said that the hospital will be prioritized to be completed as started by Vice Mayor Silvester, however, the incumbent did not continue with the hospital. Hence, we are striving to establish the hospital in the town.
The dilapidated roads will be paved and alternative routes will be made to ease the traffic as well as a road widening project will be pushed.
Livelihood will be provided to increase the standard of living in the town.
The present number of scholars will be increased. We dream of providing free college education, noting that the courses are limited and the students are limited also.
As a first-class municipality, the level of education in our town should also be first-class.
Marilao is famous as one of the towns with the dirtiest rivers in the world.
On the Survival Fund of PHP2 billion, our river is just new, you will not be drowned. We plan to fix our river, clean the river. Our river needs dredging, because it is silted such that where you dived, you will be stuck there such that we are frequently flooded near the town.
We have PHP1.4 billion budget. We can get additional funds from other national agencies.
We are planning to be the “Kakanin Capital of the Philippines” where something that is different will be known in Marilao.
On peace and order, We will support our police. The barangay tanods will be equipped, as well as their visibility. We will have streetlights all over the town of Marilao. We want our whole town to be lighted. A strengthened command center will be established against all forms of criminality so much so that there are CCTVs to prevent the commission of a crime.
If elected as Marilao Mayor, Atty. Sy will prioritize the construction of covered courts, most of which, were constructed by the provincial government, noting that Marilao now has no good covered court of its own.
One of the owners of MPBL of Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Marilao does not own a basketball team because it has no sports complex and the facilities are not enough for basketball.
She said that when she entered politics, Atty. Sy is ready to do everything for the town. If she gets elected as Mayor, Atty. Sy said Marilao will be “Jem na Jem”.
Marilao welcomes all the investors in the town. At least one to three years are needed, to study the cause of flood and from then on, we will take action for the best solution to address flooding.
Atty. Sy wants to become Marilao Mayor because she is a legitimate Marileno as well as her parents and all others are legitimate Marileno and she loves her town and she would like to serve her town.
Katapatan when she was in the Customs, she was never involved in corruption because of honesty and integrity. Katapangan such that is you are right, you should do everything. Kakayahan and Kagandahan. “I think I have the K to lead the town of Marilao.”
Atty. Sy has so many more programs. She will make sure that she will do it and achieve her programs. “I always say what I say. Pag may gusto kong gawin, ginagawa ko talaga.”
Step by step, but definitely, it will happen and I will make it happen.
Isa lang ang Partido sa Marilao for the longest time. Masaya ko na nagkasama-sama at nagkaisa na po kami. Iisa lamang po ang layunin naming na mapaganda ang bayan naming.
Dapat ma-instill sa bawat Marileno ang pagiging Pusong Pilipino. Atty. Sy had visited China. English is being taught in their curriculum in China where a lot of young have learned English and with the advent of good education, we need to know and learn English.
Kahit saan pumunta ang Pilipino, marunong mag-English kahit Carabao English. Kahit mababa ang pinag-aralan, hindi nakapag-aral, marunong mag-English without compromising ang pagmamahal sa bayan natin.
We have to coordinate with other government agencies concerning the provincial roads for alternate routes to have other roads to pass through because right now, we do not have proper urban planning.
The roads should first be constructed before putting up the housing community.
Atty. Sy said she can look into the eyes of anybody because she is a woman of integrity in the sense that what she says is what she means.
Agriculture is not anymore a major source of income in Marilao. It is now industrialized such that most of the lands of the town are now with subdivisions.
For his part, Amador said that if he gets elected as Marilao Vice Mayor, actually, he focused on legislation when he was a Councilor. He does not go out just to give anything or for short-term but for long-term projects.
He is the “Father of the Town Scholars” such that from 500 students and now 6,500 “Iskolar ng Bayan” who are benefiting from the ordinance.
60,500 students from Marilao, 80 percent should be part of the scholarship and with our cooperation we can achieve this.
I am also proposing an ordinance for the establishment of a State University in Marilao where a philantrophist who will donate for the construction of a state university with a donation of lot.
All the students in the municipality will be made as scholars for free education.
Traffic is really very top in Marilao, hence, we will open up with new roads.
“Kakanin Festival” is held every year in Marilao. Two years ago, it is held every May in SM Marilao during the Feast of the Patron Saint of Marilao.
The province has issued an ordinance prohibiting piggeries in the towns of Bulacan. San Miguel and San Rafael towns were the only ones allowed to have poultries and piggeries.
An 18-hectare development project is now ongoing in Marilao just like the BGC in Taguig City, specifically in Barangay Tabing Ilog, Abangan Sur, 20 percent of which is Bocaue area and 80 percent is Marilao area.
Amador had been Marilao Councilor for 15 years and he never was absent in the Municipal Council Sessions and compared to his political rival, who had not passed any ordinance for the benefit of the Marilenos.
He vowed that as Presiding Office of the Municipal Council, they will all work to pass ordinances for the welfare of the Marilenos.
Councilor Erwin Celones, of Barangay Tabing Ilog, said that there is the Lakan or Lakambini ng Bulakenyo. Kapag nanalo po doon, ay inilalaban sa provincial to represent Marilao.
The history of his family was really involved in politics and her mother was a former town councilor and his father was a captain.
The Celones family has been helping their townmates in Marilao even during the time that there are not yet in politics.
Councilor Vanessa “Aling Vane” Valdez, unfortunately her house was razed by fire the other night. The first SK Chaiman in Barangay Loma De Gato and now serves as Councilor of Marilao and had been serving the town for 18 years, or almost half of her life.
Councilor Luisa Silvestre, Barangay Kagawad of Saug, there are many projects and programs for sports development, not only basketball where the Sports Complex will cater to volleyball, and other games to harness the skills of the youth.
There are many things to be considered in making Marilao a city and not to make haste for the cityhood of Marilao.
Marilao has an “Open Court”, noting that almost all the covered courts in Marilao are also drenched when it rains.
We all work silently to help and only those whom they helped know how they were helped and who helped them.
She will continue the programs and projects left behind by his husband the late Marilao Mayor Ricky Silvestre.
Never forget God for everything that we do and just serve the Marilenos silently.
The Revenue Code in Marilao is now in the process of the hearing by the Municipal Council in the sense that there should be changes in taxation every three years.
Councilor Madel Jasa, the youngest councilor of the town of Marilao. Marilao is famous as a religious destination with food delicacies where every sitio has its own product to be enhanced and promoted and the branding an marketing will be made. With this, more jobs will be created.

Ang lahat ng sweldo nya ay ginamit para magkaroon ng 38 na college students ang pinag-aaral at 11 na po ang nakatapos.
Councilor Levi Martin, ng Barangay Saud at nagsimula bilang Sk Chairman sa Barangay Chairman at nagtuloy bilang Barangay Kagawad at hanggang sa ikatlong termino.
Tingin ko po ito na po ang tamang pagkakataon na maglingkod sa bayan ng Marilao. Bilang Chairman ng Committee on Health and Education, nagkaroon ng libreng vitamins pati na rin ang maintenance medicines ng senior citizens ay sinagot na rin ng Barangay.
Sa Barangay level, nagkaroon na rin ng PHP7,000 financial assistance sa Barangay scholars na pwedeng madala sa Bayan ng Marilao. Kapag nagsama-sama kami, lahat ng sinabi namin ay matutupad.
