This groundbreaking event promises to foster camaraderie and break down barriers.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Media professionals and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) will face off in the first-ever ‘National Media vs Kosa 9-Ball Billiards Tournament,’ kicking off last December 16, at 10:00 AM with the Eliminations round.

Media players will be shooting for the win at the Karambola Sports Bar in Malolos City, Bulacan, while the PDLs will be battling it out at the Provincial Jail of Pampanga in San Fernando City.

The tournament features two categories: Class A and Class B. Since there are no female PDL players, ladies will compete in Class B. The format is Race to 5, amateur rule.

The ultimate showdown arrives on Thursday, December 19 at the Provincial Jail of Pampanga. The top Class A Media player and the top Class A PDL player will clash for the Championship title. The Class B Championship will follow the same format, promising another exciting battle.

Billiards legend Efren “Bata” Reyes will take the stage for a ceremonial exhibition, showcasing his skills and adding to the excitement of the event’s finale.

The event will be graced by a distinguished group of attendees, including former PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde, Pampanga Provincial Jail Warden Alain P. De Leon, and Bureau of Jail Management3 (BJMP3) director Chief Supt. Paulino Moreno. Also invited are other distinguished guests, including Pampanga Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Vice Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando, and Clark Development Corp. President/CEO Atty. Agnes Devanadera.

“Ang layunin ng proyektong ito, maliban sa ipakita ang kahanga-hangang talento at sportsmanship ng lahat ng kalahok, ay pasiglahin ang mga PDL at ang mga kapwa media players, magkaroon ng masayang pagsasama-sama, at magdala ng kagalakan at pagkakaisa sa Pasko,” said Franco Regala, Camp Olivas PNP Press Corps (COPPC) President and Daily Tribune reporter.

Provincial Jail Warden Alain De Leon, who agreed to host the championship, highlighted the event’s importance in fostering camaraderie and promoting positive relationships between the media and the PDLs.

The COPPC, Provincial Jail of Pampanga, and BJMP Region 3 are working together to make this groundbreaking event a success.
