The artworks are for auction at the exhibit area of Casa Blanca, Intramuros, Manila.

The silent auction is open until 5 pm of Aug. 29, 2024.

Dr. Julius L. Leano, Jr., DOST-PNRI director, expressed happiness and said they are very lucky to partner with DOST-NCR.

The PNRI is the only government agency mandated on textiles under the DOST.

It highlighted that Filipinos not only wear good clothes made of good textiles which are now being imitated by others.

We feel them because we know them.

Filipinos are expensive because we are not cheap.

Dr. Leano stressed that science, innovation and technology are the drivers of what’s to come.

He urged everyone to patronize Filipino textile products such as even a doormat as doing so will go a long way.

Present were DOST Sec. Renato Solidum, Jr., Usec. Juancho Maborrang, Department of Tourism (DOT) Sec. Cristina Garcia Frasco.

The artworks and paintings were done by persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

The BJMP provided the PDLs the chance to engage in livelihood activities such as the arts and paintings in preparation for their return to the mainstream society.

A fashion show was held later at Casa Blanca with the theme: “Ang Pamanang Habi (Science Beyond Borders)”.

The DOST-NCR earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the DOT to provide solutions and open opportunities to textile industry and tourism through science, technology, and innovation.
