QUEZON CITY — The DOST held on Friday (Dec. 13) its Year-In-Review and Media Thanksgiving here at Luxent Hotel.
During the gathering, Dr. Napoleon K. Juanillo, Jr., Assistant Secretary for Technology Transfer, Communications, and Commercialization and Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Director, DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute, the speech of whom was read by Rudy De Guzman. Juanillo is in France on official business.
“The DOST Year-In-Review, Media Thanksgiving is our way of reaching to you the media,” Juanillo said.
“We believe that the media play a big role in science communications,” he added.
Unfortunately, Juanillo could not make it in the DOST Year-In-Review and Media Thanksgiving because of a prior commitment of the DOST in a foreign country.
Maridon G Sahagun, Undersecretary for Scientific and Technical Services, cited the Guinness Book of World Records for planting bamboo simultaneously in Cagayan de Oro City.
“Our published PR has reached 2-billion- peso mark which made the DOST the most talked about government agency,” Sahagun said.
She noted that the DOST has been recognized as the Top 3 government agency for the longest period of time.
“We would like to appreciate the help of the media in disseminating news and information about the DOST’s projects, plans, and programs,” Sahagun said.
Much that Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., DOST Secretary, would like to join the gathering, he could not make it due to important official engagement in Paris, France.
The S & T Post Web Magazine Online was shown in an audio visual presentation (AVP).
The successful Year-In-Review and Media Thanksgiving was made possible with the support and cooperation of all the attached agencies and regional offices of the DOST.
The DOST Media Appreciation Awards were bestowed on Atty. Melvin G. Calimag, Founder and Executive Editor of Newsbytes.PH, Teena Shotwell Clemente, Host of Anghel ng Masa of DWDD Armed Forces Radio, and Elena P. Empaz, of PTV 4.
