QUEZON CITY — The combined entry of J. Bacar/RCF/B. Joson/E. Brus/F. Maranan bagged this year’s first edition of the World Slasher 9-Cock Invitational Derby on Sunday night (Jan. 26) at the world famous Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The derby was held from Jan. 20-26, 2025.
The awarding ceremony was held on Friday (Jan. 31) at Novotel.
The winners said that they did not expect that they will bag the championship of the six day (Jan. 20-26) World Slasher 9-Cock Invitational Derby at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
They attributed their success to hard work and patience in every step of the way from the preparations stage up to the time of the championship.
They advised the aspiring future champions to do the same and know and be familiar with the cocks they are handling.
D’ Shipper RS-BBB RCF E’Bros-Balaraw entry scored a perfect 9-0 win-loss record to top the solo championship in the tournament, which is considered as the “Olympics of Cockfighting”.
Engr. Emer Sumigad’s ES Matrix Blackrooster Peejay Curly Top JAA entry topped a solo runner-up honor, with 8.5 points.
Meanwhile, Ricky Magtuto, Aurelio Yee and Raffy Turingan, Bonbon Aga, and the combined entry of James Uy/Papa Bravo/Jun Jun Sy/Frederick Sy finished the competition with 8 points each.
The combined entry of Capt. Vonn Mark Antenor and Boss Baroy Estoperes finished the tournament with 7.5 points.
The top fighters with 7 points were the combined entry of A. Ramos/E. Calivozo/E. Chua/J. Marasigan, James Rabano, Gaddiel Malinay and Carlos Timbol, the two entries of Engr. James Rabano and Engr. Emer Sumigad/SB, Carlo Arguelles/Aries Alvarez, Allan Villegas/Obet Bello, eight-time World Slasher Champ Frank Berin, and Gon Zamora.
The second edition of the 2025 World Slasher 9-Cock Invitational Derby will be held on May 20-26 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
