QUEZON CITY — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Tuesday (Oct. 21) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to strengthen their partnership and collaboration.
LTO Chairman Assistant Secretary Marcus V. Lacanilao, Atty. Martin Ontog and BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno and Atty. Jek Casipit and Assistant Commissioner Anthony Vincent Maronilla entered into the MOA.
Under the MOA, the LTO and the BOC
will create a Task Force to combat car smuggling.
In a press conference, LTO Chairman Marcus V. Lacanilao said that the signing is not only ceremonal but will form the LTO BOC Task Force in compliance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. for the full digitalization of the registration and monitoring of data and prevent fraud to make sure that the process is transparent.
Nepomuceno said that he believes that the partnership between the LTO and the BOC will further strengthen the campaign against car smuggling inspite of the many problems that the country is facing.
Nepomuceno added that the partnership between the LTO and the BOC is in compliance with the instruction of President Marcos for the full digitalization of the processes at the LTO and the BOC. ###
