TAYTAY, Rizal — Mayor Allan De Leon has asked the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) to pass the measure declaring the State of Calamity in order to provide more assistance to the flood-affected Taytayenos.
Mayor De Leon noted that the rains have been continuous for a week now and there are still flooded areas in the town and Typhoons Dante and Emong are intensifying the Habagat (southwest monsoon) that brings heavy rains in the Philippines. The Taytay LGU (local government unit) has already distributed relief packs to the flood-affected areas.
Mayor Allan De Leon also thanked the responses for the needs of his townmates affected by massive flooding caused by extreme bad weather.
Many towns in Rizal Province have declared their respective State of Calamity such as Cainta and San Mateo.
Immediately responded to the relief efforts were Governor Nina Ynares, Rep. Mia Ynares, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Tingog Partylist, the SB of Taytay, Vice Mayor JV Cabitac, Barangay Captains and different offices of Taytay LGU such as the MSWD, MDRRMO, and MHO, Volunteers, and Non-Government Organizations/Civil Society Organizations.
“Ang inyong tulong, pagmamalasakit, at sama-samang pagkilos ang naging sandigan ng ating komunidad sa panahon ng pagsubok. Maraming salamat sa inyong donasyon, serbisyo, at pagmamahal,” Mayor De Leon said.
A Command Conference was also held in the Mayor’s Office, together with the five barangays to affirm the coordination and response to the current and future needs of the Taytayenos.
Mayor Allan De Leon also cautioned the Taytayenos as the continuous rains caused by the Typhoons and the southwest monsoon may inundate the low-lying areas. ###
