ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – The completion of a new 12-classroom school building here has eased severe overcrowding at Amsic Integrated School, providing relief for approximately 600 elementary students.
DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineer Arnold Ocampo underscored the urgency of the project, citing the school’s rapidly growing student population.
“These additional classrooms will decongest existing learning spaces and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning,” he said.
“This facility gives students the space and environment they need to thrive, while enabling teachers to deliver lessons more effectively,” Ocampo added.
The modern building includes accessible restrooms on each floor, a ramp for students with disabilities, and multiple handwashing stations, promoting a safer and more inclusive learning environment.
Ocampo emphasized that the project reflects Pres. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to expanding access to quality education for all Filipinos, a cornerstone of his 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA).
“By prioritizing high-growth areas like Angeles City, we’re ensuring no student is left behind in overcrowded classrooms,” Ocampo added.
In his 2024 SONA, Pres. Marcos vowed to “build more resilient and inclusive school facilities” to bridge educational disparities, particularly in urban centers where infrastructure struggles to match population surges.
The DPWH initiative underscores this pledge, targeting systemic overcrowding and outdated facilities to guarantee equitable access to modern, safe learning spaces nationwide. ###
