QUEZON CITY — In Christmas spirit, Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Dr. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta on Thursday (Dec. 5) gathered the three most respectable and credible press clubs in the country for the last two decades.
Dr. Acosta said that the event is a yearend meeting with the presidents of the Quezon City Press Club (QCPC), National Press Club (NPC) and Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC).During the gathering, Dr. Acosta reminisced that it was in 2001 when she was appointed as PAO Chief by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and up until now Dr. Acosta is still the PAO Chief.
QCPC President Rio Araja, the PMPC, and the new Executive Officers of the NPC were introduced to PAO Chief Dr. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta.
“Ever since, the PAO has been reliable for its help, support and legal assistance even in the provinces such as Laguna and provinces with the members and families of the NPC,” the NPC said.
Dr. Acosta said “the PAO has so far received 76 awards, including last year’s 51 awards, aside from other awards and recognition which may total to 80 this year.”
“We are part of the society which should be supported and extended assistance,” the PAO Chief said.
Past President of PMPC De Guzman noted the big assistance extended by PAO to the PMPC however big or small it may be.
The PMPC expressed its profound gratitude to the PAO Chief for the MOA that seems to last for a life time.
Three credible press clubs — QCPC, PMPC and NPC — have all gathered together today for recognizing the past and present undertakings and endeavors.
Dr. Acosta recalled the passing away of more than 10 members of the media, saying that PAO Deputy Chief Dr. Atty. Erwin Erfe is ready to extend legal and health advice.
The PAO Chief announced that a media lounge in the ground floor of the new PAO Buiding will be opened.
Dr. Acosta stressed that Dr. Jose Castaneda, a well-known religious music lyricist/composer, has just recently joined the Creator from Batangas province.
The PAO is also pushing for “Katarungan para sa Kahirapan (Justice for Poverty)”.
