QUEZON CITY — Senatoriable former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson on Thursday (Oct. 10) said that as the world has now become “cashless” he is proposing the use of a common local debit/card ATM card nationwide.

In a meeting with transport groups led by Orlando Marquez, Sr., President of the Liga ng Transport Operators in the Philippines (LTOP), and candidates in the local government post in Corinthian Garden, Singson noted that he introduced such a debit/credit card in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur and because of that it has become convenient and accessible to make “cashless” transactions for his townmates and provincemates.

Singson has been the President of both the Governors League of the Philippines and the Mayors League of the Philippines, which are both under the umbrella of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP).

Being the former President of the Mayors League, Singson expressed the belief that it’s about time to make use of such ATM card in all local government units (LGUs) nationwide.

Singson stressed that he has been easily and conveniently using the Narvacan debit/credit ATM card for all his business transactions.

He pointed out that he has had no plans of running for Senator, but he could not take for granted nor ignore the calls and support for him to seek the post for Senator in the May 2025 election.

Meantime, the LTOP and other public transport groups, including the Crimes and Corruption Watch International (CCWI), expressed their “100 percent” support for the senatorial bid of Singson in the May 12, 2025 national and local elections.

They all vowed to deliver the needed votes to secure the No. 1 position for Singson in the “Magic 12” for Senators in the May 2025 midterm elections.
