PASIG CITY — St. Gerrard Corp. (SGC) President and Chief Executive Officer Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya II on Saturday (Sept. 5) disclosed that SGC has divested from St. Timothy Corp. in 2016-2017.
This was the reaction of Discaya on the accusations of Mayor Vico Sotto that SGC and St. Timothy Corp are owned by one and the same person, share the same office address, and both companies have the same set of incorporators.
In an interview by the PaMaMariSan-Rizal Press Corps, Discaya said that they started as a single proprietorship until they decided to become a corporation taking into consideration the future of his family and his children, together with his wife Sarah Discaya.
He recalled the incident wherein he was confronted by Mayor Vico Sotto in his own home about the building permit and Discaya thought then that Sotto might have been “sent” by God for a reason and to test their faith in Him.
Discaya added that he has no hard feelings with Mayor Sotto as the latter is just doing his job.
On allegation that St. Timothy Corp has a partnership with Miru, Discaya said, St. Timothy Corp. has already withdrawn its partnership with Miru.
Miru is a South Korean IT company which had won the P18-billion contract for the software and IT technology for the May 12, 2025 national and local elections.
Discaya even challenged Sotto with a basketball game, and the loser will provide for 5,000 shopping bags of groceries to be distributed to the host Barangay.
For her part, Sarah Discaya, SGC Chief Financial Officer, noted that their company started as category “Class D” until it became “AAAA (Quadruple A)” category and they were able to build big horizontal and vertical infrastructure projects nationwide.
Sarah and Curlee had been through trials and hindrances, which for them, are incomparable with the “gutter politics” that they are now encountering.
Curlee admitted that he had lost a sibling and another family member to sickness as they cannot afford hospitalization due to poverty.
He was the only one in the family who finished college with the help of priests who provided for his education as he worked as a janitor in the church.
Curlee noted that the PHP855-million allotted just for the architectural drawing of the PHP9.6-billion Pasig City Hall complex project is very expensive, saying that, he can provide for such an architectural drawing for free and have the PHP855 million spent for the benefit of Pasiguenos such as for three new modern hospitals and health services or new school buildings.
The SGC top executive also cited that the cost of PHP209,000 per square meter Pasig City Hall complex project is “excessive” so much so that the cost of PHP40,000 per square meter will be good enough to construct a new structurally sound building.
On the other hand, Sarah said that she only wanted to share their “blessings” through charity work, but it was misconstrued that they have political plans in Pasig.
She added that Pasig City can afford to build modern hospitals and Pasigueños deserve quality health service, but it’s not what’s happening under the present city administration.
Sarah scored the “sad state” of “public hospitals” in Pasig such as the Pasig City General Hospital which could not provide quality health services that Pasigueños deserve.
If elected into office, Sarah said that she will continue with the construction of the P9.6-billion Pasig City Hall complex project as it has already been budgeted and it will be credited to the incoming administration, but will have it studied for possible “overpricing”.
If Sarah becomes Pasig City Mayor, she will prioritize quality health service and free hospitalization for Pasigueños.
“City mayors come and go, but our charity work and business will continue,” she said.
“Win or lose, we will continue with our charity work. I will be willing to shake the hands of Mayor Vico Sotto after the election,” Sarah said as she revealed that she and her slate will file their respective Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) on Monday (Oct. 7) after a mass at 2 pm.
Sarah will be filing her COC for Mayor of Pasig City.
