PASIG CITY –– St. Gerrard Construction Corporation (SGC) President & Chief Executive Officer Curlee Discaya deemed it better to spend large amount of money to help the needy Pasiguenos rather than for lawyer’s fee and bail bond.
This was the reaction of Discaya on the filing of three complaints by the Pasig City local government unit before the Pasig City Metropolitan Trial Court in connection with the alleged lack of occupancy permit of the SGC Building in Barangay Bambang, Pasig City.
In an interview by INews Pasig, Discaya said that they have complied with all the requirements for the issuance of occupancy permit even to the point of resubmission of drawings, and other documents pertaining to technical specifications, but to no avail.
According to Discaya, he has gathered reliable data and information which show that 95 percent of establishments in Pasig do not have building permits and 70 percent of residential structures in the city do not have occupancy permits.
Discaya stressed that even some City Councilors admitted to him that they do not have occupancy permits themselves for their own residential structures.
At the same time, the SGC top executive took the legal move of the Pasig City LGU as an opportunity to remind city residents to immediately comply with all the requirements in order to secure their respective occupancy permits.
Discaya pointed out that he has no hard feelings with Mayor Vico Sotto as the latter is just doing his job.
However, Discaya stressed that the amount spent for the services of lawyers and for bail bond would be able to assist many indigent Pasiguenos. He noted that an ordinary employee, who is earning the basic daily minimum wage, might not be able to afford the expenses of securing an occupancy permit.
