QUEZON CITY — Tino is now nearing Typhoon category.
In a press conference on Monday (Nov. 3),
Dr. Nathaniel T. Servando, PAGASA Administrator, said that severe tropical storm Tino is the 20th storm to enter the country this year.
“It has winds of 110 kph and gustiness of 135 kph with a speed of 30 kph moving west northwest,” Dr. Servando said.
“Signal no. 3 is now raised in the southeastern portion of Eastern Samar, in the Dinagat Islands and Siargao and Bucas GrandeI Islands.,” he added.
Pagasa will continue to issue warnings and timely bulletins.
It is expected that areas to be affected by typhoon Tino will be threatened by floodings and landslides, especially those to be durcyly hit hit by typhoon Tino.
“As early as today, areas to be affected by typhoon, people should now start evacuating,” Dr. Servando said.
“We are coordinating with regional offices to ensure the timely warnings and bulletins,” he added.
Ms. Mary Mary Grace Castaneda, duty weather firecaster, said that Typhoon Tino has winds of 110 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 135 kilometers per hour.
“Throughout this day the peak or strong winds and strong rains, particularly in the
Southern portion of Leyte will be the initial landfall, Camotes Island in northern Cebu moving westward to Palawan,” Castaneda said.
It is a big system or a big storm from its center track.
Tino may reach the category of typhoon or super typhoon category considering its strong winds and strong rains.
Signal no. 3 is now raised in the southeastern portion of Eastern Samar, particularly in Guiiusn and Mercedes ; and in Dinagat Islands and Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands.
Signal no. 2 is now raised in the central and southern portions of Eastern Samar, the central and southern portion of Samar, Leyte, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Bohol, the southern and central portions of Cebu, including Bantayan Islands, and Camotes Islands, and the northeastern portion of Negros Occidental.
Signal no. 2 is now also raised in the rest of Surigao del Norte, the northern portion of Surigao del Sur, and the northeastern portion of Agusan del Norte.
Signal no. 1 is now raised in Sorsogon, Masbate, including Ticao and Burias Island, Albay, the southern portion of Quezon, the southern portion of Marinduque, Romblon, the central and southern portions of Oriental Mindoro, the central and southern portions of Occidental Mindoro, Cuyo Islands, and Calamian Islands.
Signal no. 1 is also raised in Northern Samar, the rest of Eastern Samar, the rest of Samar, the rest of Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, the rest of Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, including Caluya Islands.
Also in the rest of Surigao del Sur, the northern and central portions of Agusan del Sur, the rest of Agusan del Norte, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and the northern portion of Buidnon.
