The Visayas members of the Philippine Press Institute (PPI) meet participants from various sectors in Iloilo City in-person and via Zoom on June 16 to discuss the creation of local media-citizens council in the area.
Topics tackled during this first hybrid regional activity are decriminalization of libel, voluntary right of reply, how to create a media council, and alternative dispute resolution.
“The media council is not just a channel for complaints but a way to further professionalize the ranks in media,” said PPI executive director Ariel Sebellino. The next leg will be in Davao City. All regional activities are being supported by Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF). – Photo By Rogine Rogelio
